Code:Red or Tuning unit Device
What is the difference between the Code:Red System and either specialist ECU remapping suppliers and other commercially available ‘add on’ tuning units & devices?
Code:Red in comparison with Specialist ECU Remapping services
The majority of Specialist ECU remapping companies can only offer the following service options
- The customer has to travel to the remapping specialist to have their vehicle upgraded.
- The customer has to remove and send away to the remapping specialist their ECU to be upgraded
- The customer has to arrange for the remapping specialist to travel to them – normally at additional cost.
The Code:Red System has resolved the above problems by allowing the Customer to easily upgrade their own ECU using the Code:Red Hand processor. Using this device allows the customer to either install or uninstall upgraded Code:Red software or the Standard original software
Code:Red in comparison with Tuning units & devices
There are currently many commercially available ‘add on’ engine tuning units which can be purchased by mail order. In the majority of cases these devices have to be installed by the customer and often have to be wired into car requiring considerable skill and sometimes specialist tools.
Many of these devices relay on intercepting and altering the information & data being transmitted to the cars standard ECU (normally 4-8 key parameters) to ‘fool’ the ECU into transmitting alternative setting to the engine in order to give some performance increases.
The disadvantage of using these type of devices is that the performance gains in many cases are very moderate and that the devices can also be easily detected. These devices also tend to use generic universal settings which can work better in some applications than in others.
The Code:Red System directly optomises the ECU software using the Code:Red Hand processor linked to the cars ECU via the vehicles OBD2 diagnostic port. Up to 35 key engine parameters are modified and upgraded. Each of the Code:Red software upgrades are vehicle specific and have been designed and tested to suit each vehicle.
Initally there will only be one level of upgrade available for Turbo Diseal applications. However there will be three upgrade levels for Turbo petrol applications each with its own software upgrade:
Level 1 – Code:red Software 1 upgrade
Level 2– Code:red Software 2 upgrade, sports induction kit and exhaust
Level 3– Code:red Software 3 upgrade, sports induction kit, exhaust and upgraded turbocharger (some applications might also require an upgraded intercooler to be installed)
The Code:Red System should also not be confused with Professional motorsport ECU applications where complete new replacement ECUs, wiring looms and special race software are utilised.
